Germany, SA. A 1938 Kempten Sports Competition Victor’s Medallion, with Case, by Carl Poellath

(Wehrwettkämpfe Kempten Medaille mit Etui). Constructed of zink, the obverse consisting of a raised German national eagle perched on top of a mountainscape, situated above a Sturmabteilung (SA) logo flanked by an inscription of “DER SA-STANDARTE 20”, in turn circumscribed by an inscription of “WEHRWETTKÄMPFE KEMPTEN 1938” (“MILITARY CONTEST KEMPTEN 1938”), the reverse bearing a hand-engraved dedication to a victor in a 10,000 meter run, maker marked “CARL POELLATH, SCHROBENHAUSEN”, measuring 70 mm in diameter, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a fitted dark blue velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 105 mm (w) x 105 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), in overall extremely fine condition.
