Description

(Fallschirmschützenabzeichen). Constructed of gilded and silvered brass, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a diving Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the eagle in position, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of F.W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid, measuring 43.85 mm (w) x 53.42 mm (h), weighing 33.9 grams, demonstrating loss of finish throughout the base metal of both the eagle and wreath which has exposed the brass base metal, in addition to repair of the rivets, an uncommon Type E badge example in very fine condition.
