Description
Includes: tunic and pants. The tunic is fabricated from a fine army green wool, with button down epaulette straps on both shoulders, secured in place by a small gilt-finished brass button bearing the United States coat-of-arms. There is an 8th Air Force patch in rolled gold-colored bullion wire with red embroidery on a blue wool base, sewn in place on the left shoulder, while the right shoulder has a United States Army Air Forces patch in silvered and gold-coloured bullion wire with red embroidery on a blue wool base, sewn in place. The front has four pockets, one on each breast which have decorative straps giving them a pleated-look, the other two at the waist are without pleats and are larger and deeper than the breast pockets. All four pockets have fold over button down flaps with reinforced button holes and small gilt-finished brass buttons bearing the United States coat-of-arms, the two smaller breast pockets each with two snaps, the two larger waist pockets with an additional cloth tab and small brown button, with all four buttons sewn directly in place to their flaps.
The front is completed by a vertical row of three large gilt-finished brass buttons bearing the United States coat-of-arms on the right side, with a replacement brown plastic button placed in the last position, all four of which face an equal number of reinforced button holes on the left side. The large gilt-finished brass buttons are maker marked "WATERBURY BUTTON CO. CONN." on their reverses, as are the other six small gilt-finished brass buttons on the tunic. The cuff on each sleeve has a 12 mm wide olive green embroidered braid, the tunic single-vented at the rear. The interior is lined in moss green nylon, with a top entry pocket placed in the right breast behind the exterior pocket, and a side entry pocket placed near the opening on the left side. The collar has a tailor's label inscribed "Fenn-Feinstein New York - New Haven", along with a strap sewn in place to allow for hanging upon a hook. The jacket measures 440 mm across the shoulders x 725 mm in length. The accompanying pants are fabricated from light brown wool, designed with a zipper fly, with a two button closure at the waist. It has five pockets, including: deep side-entry pockets on both sides at the front without buttons, a smaller one between the right side-entry pocket and the waistband, along with two on the rear seat with a light brown plastic button and reinforced button hole, each of the pockets lined in a white cotton, the two front pockets exhibiting soiling, the right one of which has a hole. The exterior has five wide belt loops on the waistband, while the interior waistband is lined in grayish-brown nylon, with six mother-of-pearl colored buttons spaces in pairs, on the right side, the left side and at the rear on the interior waistband, the pants measuring 780 mm at the waist x 1,160 mm in length. Both pieces are free of mothing, displaying a wonderful texture in the wool, along with quality workmanship. Near extremely fine.
