Germany, Imperial. A Crown Prince Wilhelm Patriotic Cup and Saucer, by Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur

(1. Weltkrieg Patriotische Kaffeetassen). A First World War patriotic cup and saucer, each constructed of glazed white porcelain, the former with an exterior featuring an oval and red-toned facsimile portrait of Crown Prince, surrounded by a gilt laurel border, flanked by a wide gilt oak leaf tresses, and situated above a gilt laurel leaf border, the rim surrounded by a gilt ring, with a protruding handle which arched sharply toward the rim, with three feet affixed to the base executed in gilt and white paint, the base maker marked with the logo of Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur, Berlin, with a Cross Pattée and issue number of “125/600”, measuring 11.5 cm (w) x 13.5 cm (h), the latter featuring  a hand-painted gilt laurel wreath and ring surrounding the edge, the base maker marked with the logo of Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur, Berlin, with a Cross Pattée and issue number of “125/600”, measuring 18.5 cm in diameter, a large and striking set sold as part of a fundraising campaign for Germany’s effort in the First World War, in extremely fine condition.
