Description
A pair of United States Air Force paratrooper jump boots, constructed of brown leather. The boots are styled after traditional combat boots. The upper is constructed of a smooth brown leather, as well as the heel cap. The toe cap is constructed of brown leather with a high polish (“spit”-shine). The brown leather back stay is secured with two rows of vertical stitching on the left and right sides. The sides of the boot bear two rows of stitching. The outsole is constructed of rubber and attached to the bottom of the boot with 49 finishing nails. The front of the boot do up with woven laces threaded through twelve brown painted metal eyelets. The heel of the boot is marked “10” (size). The inside of the boot is marked in yellow “5700 10106” and the tongue of the left boot is marked in black ink “Jc Webb”. Apparent material fatigue due to age and wear, very fine.
Footnote: The United States Air Force Paratrooper Jump Boots were created by William P. Yarborough in 1941. The Department of Defense gave the Corcoran and Matterhorn Company the exclusive rights to manufacture and supply the boots for years.
