Hardcover, maroon cloth cover, entitled "History of the Royal Regiment of Artillery 1815-1853", by Lieutenant-Colonel Henry W.L. Hime, late Royal Artillery, published by Longmans, Green, and Company of London, New York, Bombay, and Calcutta in 1908. It begins with a Preface, followed by a Table of Contents and a List of References. The book is divided into eight chapters: I - The Regiment in 1815; II - The Reductions, 1816-1823; III - The Driver Corps; IV - The Gunner-Driver System; V - The Regiment, 1827-1846; VI - The Augmentations, 1846-1853; VII - The Matériel, 1815-1853; VIII - War Services, 1815-1853. It concludes with four Appendices (A - Classification of an Artillery; B - Troops and Companies Reduced, 1816-1823; C - Recruiting Poster, 1845; D - The Artillery at Waterloo) and a four page Index. The book contains 158 pages of text and tables (charts), printed in black ink, on a thick off-white paper stock, named in black ink to the previous owner on the inside front cover endpaper, measuring 145 mm (w) x 225 mm (h) x 20 mm (d). It has experienced age discolouration on the top of the pages, along with one mark on the side of the pages on the exterior, one fingermark on the page facing the Preface, the underlying glue strips showing through on both inside covers, however, the exterior cover and the pages within remain pristine. Considering its age, near extremely fine.
