United Kingdom. A Second War Leather Flight Jacket, 1944

The exterior is in a cinnamon brown leather, with pronounced heavy stitching throughout along the seams. The front has a functioning zipper, unmarked pull tab. Both sleeves have functioning zippers as well, both pull tabs marked "DOT" (Department of Overseas Trade) within a circular border surrounded by the inscription "MADE IN ENGLAND" on the reverse. The exterior of the jacket displays period worn leather, with cracking and texture characteristic of these jackets. Cuffs and high relief points exhibit wear. Interior retains nearly all of its fur with no holes or significant wear. The standard chain for hanging has become detached. Vent holes in the under arms. Measures 47 cm flat across the shoulders to seams, sleeve length includes a 47 cm inseam, total length of 65 cm. The jacket is structurally sound and could be worn after an oil treatment. Remains worn but fine.
