Instituted May 18, 1725 by King George I. An First War Order of the Bath in silver gilt presenting a white Maltese cross with ball finials, a singular carefully detailed lion in each quadrant, the obverse medallion presents a Gold tri-crown motif with a surrounded red enamel ring inscribed TRIA JUNCTA IN UNO (Three Joined in One), with an exterior green and red enamelled laurel wreath, the military division inscription ICH DIEN (I Serve) on a blue enamelled ribbon is below the wreath on the 6 o’clock arm, the reverse mirrors the obverse, measures 48.50mm (w) x 58.13mm (l – inclusive of foliage suspension and integral ring), weighs 40.3 grams (inclusive of neck ribbon), unmarked, worn on a full length neck ribbon, small chips to green enamel wreath on both obverse and reverse otherwise enamels intact, scattered gilt wear, overall in near extremely fine condition.
Contained in a hardshell case of issue, marked C.B MILY on the exterior lid, the interior lid is maker marked GARRARD & Co LTD, the decoration sits in a raised removable platform with a recessed velvet medal bed, hinge and clasp fully functional, light wear, slight scuffs around corners and near front left corner of exterior, interior slightly discoloured, in overall very fine condition.
