United Kingdom. A GS Mark II Military Pocket Watch

In a silver casing, a military pocketwatch, featuring a black dial with luminescent arabic numbers from 1-12, painted hours and seconds hands, with a seconds dial at 6 o’clock, the reverse silver casing is marked with a broad arrow and “G.S. Mk. II A44783”
The obverse presents a black dial with large phosphorescent Arabic numbers, with hour and minute hands, with railroad track along the outer edge, a subdial in place of the 6 o’clock, marked SWISS MADE at 6 o’clock, with a glass crystal face, contained in its original nickel case with crown and fitted bow allowing for a chain, reverse screwback case signed G.S. Mk. II A44783 with a British broad arrow, internal case signed CUPREL REGD DENNISON WATCH CASE CO LTD MADE IN ENGLAND 5609, internal watch signed 15 JEWEL SWISS MADE, the pocket watch measures 50.9 mm in width 63.7 mm in height, weighs 82.3 grams, untested, small chipping around the edge of the crystal, light wear to the exterior, otherwise a lovely chronograph in very fine condition.

Footnote: At the outbreak of the Second World War, the British forces implemented pocket watches from numerous Swiss makers. The specifications were for a keyless watch with leather thong, strong lever in metal case with strong glass crystal, fully luminous with a 15 jeweled movement.
