(Wisām an-Nīlayni). Instituted November 16th, 1961. (c. 1965 issue). A cased Order of the Two Niles, I. Class, Grand Cordon, consisting of:
1. The Breast Star. Constructed of silver, consisting of a ten-pointed star with vertical and horizontal rays across the entire surface of the award, the obverse with a central white enameled medallion inscribed “El Nilein” (The Two Niles) in Arabic characters, five of the arms are decorated with an elongated enameled purple shape with an internal “eye” consisting of white and blue enamels, along with two more “eyes” positioned side-by-side equally constructed of dual-coloured enamels, the reverse is plain with a functional vertical pinback assembly, maker marked by “Spink & Son, Ltd.”, measuring 91.4 mm (w) x 93.1 mm (l), weighing 170.38 grams.
2. The Neck Badge. Constructed of silver and visually identical as the breast star, with a ten-pointed star consisting of vertical and horizontal lines, along with a central white enameled medallion inscribed “The Two Niles”, with a suspender consisting of an encircled secretary bird, suspended from its period original and full length neck ribbon, measuring 59.0 mm (w) x 73.1 mm (l), weighing 62.80 grams.
Accompanied by its presentation case, constructed of a lightweight wooden core, with a dark blue faux leather (leatherette) exterior, the exterior of the lid embossed with “Order of the Two Niles” in grey, the interior of the lid is lined with off-white padded silk and is embossed with “Spink & Son Ltd” in black ink, with functional dual metal hinges, an intact interior fabric hinge cover, and functional dual clasp closures, accompanied by its finely detailed miniature as well as a boutonniere bearing a rosette.
A fine example of this Sudanese Order of the Two Niles, I. Class Grand Cordon Set, inclusive of its breast star, neck badge, miniate, boutonniere, and its case of issue, in better than extremely fine condition.
