Spain, Spanish State. A Patriotic Tapestry from the Offices of Francisco Franco

A large and ornate tapestry, constructed of a padded white satin cloth base, trimmed along all four edges with a red, white, and green threaded fringe, bordered along all four edges by a layer of smooth maroon velvet decorated with multi-coloured arabesque imagery of identical velvet construction, surrounding a central texted and off-white rayon threaded square, in turn overlaid by a central Franco-era Spanish coat of arms constructed of multi-coloured and multi-piece embroidery, situated above classic Falange-style yoke and arrows, and surrounded by additional multi-piece velvet arabesques, unmarked, measuring 124 cm (w) x 128 cm (h), demonstrating bleeding of dye into the base material consequence to moisture exposure and with additional soiling and material fatigue evident, the latter including some loosening of the stitching to the obverse decorations, a scarce example of a patriotic tapestry displayed in government buildings and the offices of Francisco Franco in very fine condition.
