Spain, Kingdom. An Order of Isabella the Catholic, Grand Cross Star

(Orden de Isabel la Catolica). Instituted March 24, 1815 by King Ferdinand VII. 1875-1931 Issue. In silver gilt, presenting a four point cross of red enamelled arms with large ball finials, between each arm sits a cluster of seven smooth rays, the obverse medallion features the hand-painted insignia of the order, surrounded by a green enamelled wreath with a white enamel banner inscribed A LA LEALTAD ACRISOLADA POR ISABEL LA CATOLICA (To Pure Loyalty, For Isabel the Catholic) with a surmounting crowned monogram of Ferdinand VII on a blue enamelled field, the reverse presents a vertical pin assembly with dual stays, pin is marked with numerous indecipherable, measures 77.70 mm (w) x 79.07mm (h), weighs 67.69 grams, large enamel flake to 3 o'clock arm, otherwise a beautiful decoration in near extremely fine condition.
