(Ordine Equestre di Saint' Agata). Instituted in 1923. Knight Grand Cross Badge: seven-piece construction, in bronze gilt with green, white and blue enamels, obverse with a painted centrepiece of Saint Agatha, reverse centrepiece bearing a gilt San Marino coat-of-arms, measuring 66.2 mm (w) x 73.5 mm (h) inclusive of its integral suspension, gilt wear evident on the coat-of-arms, on its original full-length sash that incorporates a decorative moiré pattern and features a large bow-tie; and Knight Grand Cross Breast Star: insignia with a three-piece construction in bronze gilt with green and white enamels, painted centrepiece, mounted to a silver eight-pointed star base, four of the eight star points with gilt, each star point with five faceted rays, maker marked "ALBERTI & C. Via No. Bixio 4" on the reverse cartouche, measuring 86.8 mm (w) x 86.3 mm (h), vertical pinback, traces of gilt wear on the four faceted arms. Together, near extremely fine. Accompanied by its Miniature in silvered and gilt bronze with green and white enamels, measuring 17 mm (w) x 17.3 mm (h), original ribbon; and its Rosette in silvered and gilt bronze with green, white and red enamels, measuring 13.5 mm in diameter, with button hole attachment, exhibiting green oxidation. In their hardshelled case of issue, maroon dimpled exterior, inside lid in white satin, padded and maker marked "A. ALBERTI & C. / Via N. Bixio, 6 / Tel. 20.00.07 / MILANO", medal bed with an insert in off-white felt and designed with recessed medal beds for the Badge, the Miniature and the Rosette, along with being slotted for the pinback on the Breast Star, dual clasp closure, extensive scuffing and wear evident on the exterior, the interior with light soiling on the white felt, case very fine.
Footnote: The Order of Saint Agatha was instituted on June 5, 1923 and awarded for charitable work in the service of the Republic, in five grades: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
