Description

(태극의 주문 / taegeug-ui jumun). Instituted April 17, 1900. A multi piece construction Breast Star, in silver with enamelled rays atop a larger silver star. The obverse center piece presents a red and blue enamelled taeguk surrounded by the white enamelled rays. The reverse center is engraved with Japanese characters and a vertical pinback with dual stays. The star measures at 91 mm in diameter and weighs 108.0 grams. The enamels are intact and silver presenting with minor wear, in extremely fine condition.

Footnote: This Order was conferred in recognition of civil or military merit, and it is also known as the Order of the Flag.The reverse features Chinese characters signifying the class of the award. It also features an inscription in Chinese characters, which translates to "Order of Merit".
