Jordan, Kingdom. An Order of Independence, V Class Knight, c.1948

 (Wisam Al Ordani Istiklal). Instituted in 1921. In silver, silver gilt and enamels, a ten point star with clusters of faceted rays, a white enamel star with gilt wreath segments in each arm, the obverse medallion in red enamels with an Arabic inscription which translates to “El Hussein Bin Ali”, suspended from a wheat wreath, measures 39.4 mm (w) x 68.6 mm (h), 21.0 grams, marked on the reverse with Bichay maker mark in the center, hallmarks on the 6 o’clock arm denoting the lotus (1947-1966), silver fineness denoting .900, and year mark of 1948, enamels intact, missing ribbon, in very fine condition.
