Japan, Imperial. An Order of the Sacred Treasure, I Class Breast Star in Case

(瑞宝章, Zuihōshō). Instituted in 1888. Type I (1888-2003). In silver gilt, an eight point star with clusters of white enamelled rays, separated by a single short blue ray, the obverse medallion featuring a silver flower on a blue enamelled field, encircled by a silver gilt ring along with sixteen red glass cabochons, reverse bears a single pin with dual stays, measures 74.1 mm (w) x 75.7 mm (h), weighs 92.2 grams, enamels are intact and pristine, some gilt wear, extremely fine.

In its hardshelled case of issue, balsa wood frame, the exterior with a black lacquer finish, gilt characters on the lid, inside lid lined in violet satin, padded and exhibiting the impression of the Breast Star, the base with a medal bed in violet felt and slotted for the pin and stays, measuring 112mm (w) x 167mm (h) x 49mm (d), small scratches on the lid, hinge and clasp functional, in extremely fine condition.

Accompanied by the original cardboard box with handwritten Kanji on the lid, and statutes of wear document.
