Grand Cross Badge: in silver gilt, unmarked, measuring 57.5 mm (w) x 61.2 mm (h) inclusive of its laterally-pierced ball suspension, scattered gilt wear, on its original full-length sash that incorporates a decorative moiré pattern and features a large bow-tie; and Breast Star: in silver gilt, hallmarked with a crab on the pin, measuring 76.3 mm (w) x 76 mm (h), vertical pinback flanked by dual stays, scattered gilt wear. Footnote: The Pan-American Order of Pétion and Bolivar was instituted on October 21, 1939. It is awarded to diplomats who distinguished themselves in the field of Pan Americanism, in six classes: Collar, Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, and Knight. Also, Alexandre Pétion was the first President of the Republic of Haiti, while Simón Bolívar was a Venezuelan military and political leader.
