Germany, Wehrmacht. An Azad Hind Order, Grand Star with Swords, by Rudolf Souval

(Orden Azad Hind der Provisorischen Regierung Freies Indien, Großstern mit Schwertern). Constructed of gilded and silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an eight-pointed radiant star, bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a gilded Bengal tiger, situated within a circular white enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “AZAD HIND” with green enameled laurel leaves, with a pair of gilded crossed swords piercing the medallion, the reverse with an eyelet connecting to a loop and ring retaining a period original confectioned neck ribbon, maker marked “RUDOLF SOUVAL WIEN VII”, measuring 60.34 mm (w) x 60.34 mm (h), weighing 36.7 grams, demonstrating moderate loss of finish throughout the base metal with some flecking to the enamels, a late wartime example in near extremely fine condition.
