Germany, Wehrmacht. A Gold Grade Wound Badge, with Case, by the Vienna Mint

(Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold mit Etui). Constructed of gilded tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a clip hinge and wide flattened pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “30” for the Vienna Mint, measuring 36.26 mm (w) x 43.82 mm (h), weighing 34.2 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted black velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 70 mm (w) x 70 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), demonstrating sporadic tarnishing to the base metal and some scratching to the reverse, a high-quality example in overall extremely fine condition.
