(Verdienstorden vom Deutscher Adler Bruststern zum Verdienstkreuz). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1943-1945 issue). Constructed of silver with enamels, the obverse consisting of a six-pointed radiant star, overlaid by a central white enameled Maltese Cross, with its arms joined through the quadrants by gilded NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas on white enameled discs, the reverse with two visible rivet securing the obverse applique in place, with a barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a rounded catch, the pinback stamped with a silver content number of “900” and maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “21” for Gebrüder Godet, Berlin, measuring 65.83 mm (w) x 75.50 mm (h), weighing 50.6 grams, demonstrating flecking throughout the enamels in addition to loss of gilt finish, in near extremely fine condition.
