Germany, Third Reich. A Rare Schlageter Memorial Association 10-Year Honour Badge, Owner-Attributed Example, by Wächtler & Lange

(10-Jahres-Ehrenzeichen des Schlageter Gedächtnis-Bund). Constructed of silvered tombak with enamels, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, topped by a ring bearing an inscription of “ALBERT LEO SCHLAGETER” and dates “1923 - 26. MAI 1933”, overlaid by a Maltese Cross with ribbed arms, bearing a central swastika circumscribed by an inscription of “SCHLAGETER GEDÄCHTNIS-BUND E.V.”, the reverse with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, engraved with a recipient’s name of “EMIL BRANDES, HANN.-LINDEN”, an issue number of “116”, an additional dedication of the Schlageter Memorial Association, and a maker’s mark of “WÄCHTLER & LANGE, MITTWEIDA”, measuring 40.12 mm (w) x 51.83 mm (h), weighing 48.5 grams, minor loss of silver finish is visible throughout the base metal, resulting in the exposure of the tombak base to high-contact points, and the pinback has been replaced, a rare award in better than very fine condition.
