(Reichsfeuerwehr-Ehrenzeichen, II. Klasse mit Etui). Instituted 22 June 1936 by Wilhelm Frick. (1936-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Geneva Cross, with its arms joined through the quadrants by a circular ring bearing an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE IM FEUERLÖSCHWESEN” (“FOR MERIT IN FIRE-FIGHTING”), the obverse with white enameled arms overlaid by stylized flames, bearing a central white enameled disc with a black mobile swastika, unmarked, measuring 43.91 mm (w) x 48.20 mm (h), weighing 18.7 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and with a depressed black velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, with some flecking and loss of finish evident to the enamel and metal, respectively, and additional material fatigue visible to the case, in overall better than very fine condition.
