Constructed of silvered feinzink, the obverse bearing a raised German national eagle perched on top of a pair of skis defaced by an edelweiss and Sturmabteilung (SA) insignia, circumscribed by inscriptions of “DER FÜHRER DER SA-GRUPPE HOCHLAND” (“THE LEADER OF SA GROUP HOCHLAND”) and “NS-WINTERKAMPFSPIEGEL 1938 OBERHOF” (“NATIONAL SOCIALIST WINTER SPORTS GAMES 1938 OBERHOF”), the reverse bearing an engraved dedication to “SA-MANN FILSER” for meritorious contributions to the games, measuring 95 mm (w) x 90 mm (h), accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and fitted dark blue velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 130 mm (w) x 130 mm (l) x 30 mm (h), demonstrating some minor and age-appropriate bubbling to the silver finish of the medallion and moderate material fatigue throughout the case, in near extremely fine condition.
