(Reichsarbeitsdienst Bierkrug). Constructed of glazed earthenware, the exterior bearing a hand-painted Reichsarbeitsdienst (Reich Labour Service/RAD) insignia defaced by a unit attributed of “6/283”, flanked by depictions of RAD servicemen at work, topped by dates “1934-35”, and situated above an inscription of “ZUR ERINNERUNG AN MEINE ARBEITSDIENSTZEIT IN SCHWEINFURT” (“IN MEMORY OF MY LABOUR SERVICE TIME IN SCHWEINFURT”, in turn flanked by a name and rank of “A.-M. G. BAUER” (“ARBEITSMANN G. BAUER”), with a protruding handle situated adjacent to an engraved measurement of “0,5L” for one half litre, with a pewter lid affixed to a functional hinge and thumb piece, the former similarly bearing engraved initials “GB” within a circular laurel leaf wreath, the base maker marked with initials “J.B.”, measuring 10 cm (w) (exclusive of handle) x 14 cm (h) (exclusive of thumb piece”, demonstrating some scratching throughout the glaze and two hairline cracks running vertically to approximately 1/3 of the length from the rim, a fully-attributed example in better than very fine condition.
