Germany, Ordnungspolizei. A Medal Bar for Distinguished Police and Olympic Service

(Ordensschnalle). A medal bar featuring two decorations, including:

1. An Olympic Games Commemorative Medal, constructed of silvered magnetic metal, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing an Olympic column topped by rings, overlaid by a German national eagle, and flanked by a date of “1936”, the reverse bearing an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTVOLLE MITARBEIT BEI DEN OLYPISCHEN SPIELEN 1936” (“FOR MERITORIOUS ASSISTANCE TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES OF 1936”), unmarked, measuring 37.09 mm in diameter, demonstrating minor loss of finish resulting in some surface oxidation, in better than very fine condition.

2. A Police Long Service Award, III Class for 8 Years, constructed of silvered tombak, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing an Ordnungspolizei insignia in the form of an oval oak leaf wreath overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central number “8”, circumscribed by an inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE IN DER POLIZEI” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE POLICE”), unmarked, measuring 38.23 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition.

Both suspended from a 70 mm-long bar with a horizontal pinback, field-grey wool liner, and magnetic metal core, demonstrating some soiling to the ribbons an interesting bar issued to a member of the police who likely performed security and crowd control duties at the 1936 Berlin Summer Olympics, in near extremely fine condition.
