(Luftwaffe Wehrpaß). Constructed of a field-grey card stock binding with 52 paginated interior pages filled with stamped and handwritten entries, named to “GEORG VERHONIK”, who was born in Wiener Neustadt on 28 November 1883 and who served with Austro-Hungarian forces from 22 December 1903 and with the end of his recorded service on 1 May 1915 indicating that he attained the rank of Oberleutnant der Reserve and received a Bravery Medal and Karl Troop Cross, with Verhonik returning to military service with the Wehrmacht in 1939 following the Anschluss, serving with Luftwaffe transportation units and railway infrastructure, attaining the rank of Hauptmann der Reserve on 1 January 1942 and Major der Reserve on 1 June 1944, receiving the Black Grade Wound Badge in April 1942, War Merit Cross II Class with Swords on 30 January 1944, and the Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918 for Combatants on an unspecified date, retaining a certified studio portrait of Verhonik, measuring 10.5 cm (w) x 14.5 cm (h), demonstrating minor material fatigue and effort to erase the cover’s swastika, an interesting example of a Wehrpaß to a bearer who rendered service for the virtual entirety of both World Wars, in near extremely fine condition.
