Germany, Luftwaffe. A Mixed Lot of Awards, Insignia, and Photos

(Luftwaffe Auszeichnungen, Insignien, und Fotos). A mixed lot of awards, insignia, and photos from the estates of Luftwaffe personnel, including:

1. A War Merit Cross II Class with Swords, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central wreathed date of “1939”, the suspension loop maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “63” for Franz Klast & Söhne, Gablonz, measuring 48.00 mm (w) x 48.51 mm (h), weighing 22.1 grams, accompanied by a mis-matched package of issue, constructed of beige paper stock, the exterior bearing an inscription of “KRIEGSVERDIENSTKREUZ 2. KLASSE MIT SCHWERTERN” and a maker’s mark of “GLASER & SOHN, DRESDEN”, measuring 60 cm (w) x 105 mm (h) and accompanied by an original wax paper liner, in overall extremely fine condition.

2. A matching set of Communications Obergefreiter collar tabs, each constructed of brown wool with card stock cores and pinned with three aluminum gulls, both unmarked and measuring 40 mm (w) x 60 mm (l), in extremely fine condition.

3. A Communications Enlisted ranks sleeve insignia, constructed of dark grey wool, the obverse bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey lightning bolt, unmarked, measuring 60 mm in diameter, in unissued and extremely fine condition.

4. A lot of 13 private wartime photos, including a large studio portrait of a uniformed Luftwaffe Gefreiter, dated 1944; a small studio portrait of a uniformed Obergefreiter wearing a War Merit Cross II Class ribbon, and; 11 assorted photos showing a mix of Luftwaffe and Heer personnel in the field and at leisure, in overall extremely fine condition.
