(Helmwappen). A pair of helmet plates, including:
1. A Hesse plate, constructed of silvered brass, the obverse consisting of a Hesse lion rampant wielding a sword, situated within a wreath of laurel and oak leaves, the reverse with two threaded screwposts, one retaining an original nut, unmarked, measuring 13 cm (w) x 10 cm (h), in extremely fine condition.
2. A Württemberg Reserve plate, constructed of gilded brass, the obverse bearing a central Württemberg coat of arms, overlaid by a toned Cross Pattée, flanked by a lion and deer rampant, and situated above a banner bearing an inscription of “FURCHTLOS UND TREW” (“FEARLESS AND LOYAL”), the reverse with two threaded screwposts, unmarked, measuring 12 cm (w) x 10.5 cm (h), demonstrating some loss of gilt finish, in very fine condition.
