(Abzeichen). A mixed lot of First World War patriotic badges, including:
1. An Iron Cross badge, constructed of silvered bronze with enamels, the obverse consisting of a blackened and silvered 1914 Iron Cross, situated atop of pale yellow background, surrounded by blackened and silvered scallops, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 28 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.
2. A second war year badge, constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of an Iron Cross with red enameled arms trimmed with white borders, bearing a central gilt crown and inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS 1915” (“GOD WITH US 1915”), the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 20 mm (w) x 20 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
3. A large propaganda badge, constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse bearing a black enameled Iron Cross with stylized oak leaves joining the quadrants, overlaid by a red enameled octagon bearing a silvered inscription of “GOTT STRAFE ENGLAND” (“GOD PUNISH ENGLAND”), the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 26 mm (w) x 26 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
4. A Dual Alliance pendant, constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse consisting of a bow tie accommodating a circular pendant bearing raised and leftward-facing profiles of Emperor Franz Joseph and Kaiser Wilhelm II, with Iron Crosses emanating from cardinal points, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, the pendant measuring 26 mm (w) x 26 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
5. A patriotic pendant, constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse consisting of a German national eagle, clutching a pendant in its talons bearing a raised bust of Generalfeldmarschall Paul von Hindenburg, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, the pendant measuring 18 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.
