(Auszeichnungen und Papiere). A mixed lot of awards and documents to Gottfried Dörner, last-known rank Unteroffizier, including:
1. A 1914 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon stitched into a parade mount format, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, unmarked, measuring 43.05 mm (w) x 47.68 mm (h), weighing 14.2 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
2. An Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918 for Combatants, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing central wreathed dates “1914-1918”, the reverse maker marked with the logo of Reichsverband Pforzheim, measuring 38.00 mm (w) x 42.15 mm (h), accompanied by its award document, constructed of off-white paper with black ink, named to Dörner as a resident of Aachen, issued on 12 January 1935, measuring 210 mm (w) x 148 mm (h), with some discolouration and a folding crease visible, in near extremely fine condition.
3. A mixed lot of four papers, including a First World War service record confirming that Dörner served between 1915 and 1918 (seeing combat on both the Western and Eastern Fronts), as well as Second World War service and discharge papers, in overall extremely fine condition.
4. A large group photo showing an assembly of Heer soldiers wearing Stahlhelme, the reverse in unused postcard format, unmarked, measuring 140 mm (w) x 88 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
