The collection consists of:

A preliminary award certificate for the Iron Cross 1st Class; a Bremen Hanseatic Cross certificate; an Imperial Military ID booklet; a Second War Wehrpaß; a First War photo of Mikloweit in uniform; a First War pay book with second copy; two police records; an assortment of Weimar Republic, Third Reich, and post-war documents to Mikloweit and his family members, Dora (wife?), Edith, and Johanna (daughters?).

The preliminary Iron Cross 1st Class certificate is named to Vizefeldwebel (vice sergeant) Ewald Mikloweit of Reserve Infantry Regiment 75. It is dated in the field to May 23, 1917. Measuring 209 mm (w) x 303 mm (h), presenting overall light creasing, minimal fraying of the edges, and two punched holes, remains better than very fine.

The Bremen Hanseatic Cross certificate is named to Vizefeldwebel of the Reserve Ewald Mikloweit in Reserve Infantry Regiment No. 75, 5th Company. It is dated to May 29, 1917. Measuring 213 mm (w) x 267 mm (h), presenting two folding creases, some overall creasing, and two punched holes, remains near extremely fine.

The Imperial Military ID booklet is dated to September 21, 1913. Measuring 82 mm (w) x 139 mm (h), presenting light scuffing of the cover, body of the book undamaged, remains better than very fine.

The Second War Wehrpaß is dated to Hamburg on November 16, 1943. Measuring 106 mm (w) x 148 mm (h), presenting minimal scuffing of the cover, and big ink stain (potentially denazification effort), remains better than very fine.

The First War photo shows Mikloweit in uniform, with two other soldiers to his sides. Mikloweit wears the Iron Cross 1st Class. Measuring 81 mm (w) x 56 mm (h), presenting minimal wear, remains near mint.

Footnote: Ewald Heinrich Mikloweit was born on December 6, 1891 in Kremperheide (north of Hamburg). He worked as a streetcar driver. Mikloweit began his military service on October 12, 1911 in Infantry Regiment von Manstein (Slesvig) No. 84, 6th Company, and was released from service on September 22, 1913. With the beginning of the First War, Mikloweit was drafted into Reserve Infantry Regiment 76 on August 5, 1914. He was promoted to Unteroffizier (NCO) on October 6. Mikloweit was transferred to the 5th Company of Reserve Infantry Regiment No. 75, stationed on the western front. He received three minor wounds in action during the war, was promoted to Vizefeldwebel due to bravery in facing the enemy, and received the Iron Cross 2nd Class on May 25, 1916, and the Iron Cross 1st Class on May 23, 1917. Mikloweit was drafted again during the Second War on November 6, 1943, serving in the Landsturm II (reserve of the reserve), being declared “fit for work”. In the Wehrpaß it is mentioned that Mikloweit received a Wound Badge in Silver, as well as both classes of the Iron Cross. Presumably, all these awards were from the First War.
