Germany, HJ. A 1939 National Trade Competition Victor’s Badge, Bronze Grade, by Ferdinand Wagner

(Ehrenzeichen Kreissieger im Reichsberufswettkampf 1939). Constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, surrounding a white enameled medallion overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a cogwheel defaced by an enameled HJ insignia, circumscribed by an inscription of “KREISSIEGER 1939”, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “FERD. WAGNER, PFORZHEIM”, measuring 48.78 mm (w) x 49.02 mm (h), weighing 29.2 grams, demonstrating minor chipping to the enamel of the HJ insignia, in near extremely fine condition.
