The Iron Cross 1st Class certificate is named to Oberjäger Walter Braun of the 14th Company of Gebirgsjäger (mountain troop) Regiment 13. It is dated to September 28, 1943 and signed in blue ink by the commander of the 4th Mountain Division, Generalmajor Julius Braun (1895-1962), a recipient of the German Cross in Gold. Measuring 140 mm (w) x 200 mm (h), presenting two folding creases, two punched holes, overall creasing, and light scuffing and fraying of the edges, remains fine.
The Iron Cross 2nd Class certificate is named to Gefreiter (lance corporal) Walter Braun of the same unit as above. It is dated to October 30, 1941 and signed in black ink by the deputy commander of the 4th Mountain Division, Oberst (colonel) Karl Wintergerst (1892-1945), a recipient of the German Cross in Gold. Measuring 139 mm (w) x 199 mm (h), presenting two folding creases, two punched holes, and light creasing and scuffing of the edges, remains near very fine.
