(Heer Wehrpaß und Verleihungsurkunde). A Wehrpaß belonging to Obergefreiter Karl-Heinz Wagner, constructed of a field-grey paper stock binding, with 52 pages of personal information, in addition to service and travel records, measuring 105 mm (w) x 148 m (h), the inside cover with a compartment containing an application for an Infantry Assault Badge in Silver, dated 3 December 1944, measuring 149 mm (w) x 210 mm (h); a letter of commendation, on blue wax paper, dated 25 January 1944, measuring 224 mm (w) x 288 mm (h), in extremely fine condition; the reverse cover with a United States Army-issued internment certificate, dated 15 May 1945, measuring 100 mm (w) x 108 mm (h), in better than very fine condition, and; an award certificate for an Infantry Assault Badge in Silver, dated 27 December 1944, measuring 140 mm (w) x 202 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: Karl-Heinz Wagner was born on 8 September 1919 in Saxony, and enlisted in the Wehrmacht in Bernburg on 3 July 1939. He was assigned to the 4th Company of Sturm-Bataillon 15, and participated in Operation Barbarossa, serving on the Eastern front from 22 June until 7 October 1941. He was awarded the Infantry Assault Badge in Silver after being engaged in three days of continuous combat, from 24 until 27 November 1944. Wagner survived the war and surrendered to US forces, later being interned in a prisoner of war camp on 15 May 1945.
