The collection includes official documents (enlistment for ten years, passing of driving test, etc.) and four postcards sent by Kühn from the front to his wife and three children at home in Hamburg.
The most notable documents are the following:
An Iron Cross 2nd Class award certificate, named to Medical Feldwebel (sergeant) Kühn on Staff of 2nd Battalion of Infantry Regiment 399. It is dated to September 1, 1941 and signed in pencil by Generalleutnant and Commander of the 170th Infantry Division, Walter Wittke.
Measuring 140 mm (w) x 200 mm (h), presenting a folding crease and light creasing of the edges, remains near extremely fine.
A KIA note to Kühn’s wife from the NCO Corps of Infantry Regiment 399. It is dated to Russia on September 20, 1941. Kühn was killed in action while treating the wounds of a comrade.
Measuring 210 mm (w) x 297 mm (h), presenting two folding creases, light creasing, and minor fraying of the edges, remains near very fine.
