(Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes mit Eichenlaub, Schwertern, und Etui). Reinstituted 1 September 1939. (1939-1945 issue; c. 1950 reissue). Constructed of neusilber with non-ferrous metal, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened non-magnetic metal core within a ribbed and silvered frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an integral loop, the former retaining a clasp featuring three overlaid oak leaves above crossed swords, the reverse with malleable attachment prongs retaining a full-length neck ribbon, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of manufacture by Steinhauer & Lück, Lüdenscheid, the cross measuring 48.53 mm (w) x 54.44 mm (h), the clasp measuring 25.72 mm (w) x 27.87 mm (h), weighing 32.0 grams overall, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a depressed black felt medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 80 mm (w) x 145 mm (l) x 22 mm (h), minor material fatigue is evident to the exterior of the case but the cross is in a near mint condition.
