(Nationale Volksarmee Uniform für Hauptmann der Panzertruppe). An extremely well-preserved and complete National People’s Army Panzer Hauptmann dress uniform, consisting of a tunic, dress shirt, trousers, and visor cap.
The tunic is constructed of grey whipcord wool and features a collar which transitions into double breast flaps. The collar is trimmed along the outer edge with green wool piping and is flanked on each side by tabs. The former are constructed of dark grey wool bases with buckram cores and bear dual machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire insignia. Each tab measures 45 mm (w) x 75 mm (l). The shoulders are both adorned by boards constructed of a rose-pink cotton blend with card stock cores, and bearing four bands of silver aluminum wire piping pinned with four gilded bronze rank pips (the left board is missing one pip). The boards each measure 35 mm (w) x 105 mm (l). The boards are each held in place by a pebbled magnetic metal button on the inner edge and with a reverse strap meeting an integrated loop set into the tunic on the outer edge. The cuff of each sleeve is rolled up to a depth of 120 mm, secured in place with machine stitching, and trimmed along the edge with white wool piping. Each breast flap features two pockets, all opening with stylized horizontal flaps with reinforced buttonholes meeting pebbled magnetic metal buttons. Pinned onto the upper right flap is a NVA Sports Badge, Gold Grade, while the left flap features a medal bar with four decorations. A grey rayon liner fully encompasses the interior, and features a single pocket located at the upper left flap. Stamped onto the flap just above the pocket is a black ink NVA depot mark. The interior also features a white cotton label near the collar bearing a red ink inscription of “m 56-1”, as well as an integrated suspension loop. An integrated grey cotton-blended strap is set onto the left side of the interior and completes in a magnetic metal loop. It measures approximately 520 mm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 610 mm, and an overall body length of 740 mm. It is in an overall extremely fine condition.
The dress shirt is constructed of blue-grey cotton and features a reinforced collar. Each sleeve has a vertical slit with a single bakelite button meeting a buttonhole for an adjustable fit. A pocket is set onto each breast flap, both closing with pebbled grey zink buttons. The shirt itself closes with seven buttons of identical construction on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. It is accompanied by an original NVA-issue slate grey cotton tie, as well as by a pair of suspenders constructed of grey cotton with brown leather straps at each end for uniform attachment. The shirt measures approximately 520 mm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 590 mm, and an overall body length of 705 mm. It is in an overall extremely fine condition.

The trousers measure approximately 450 across the waist, with an inseam of 340 mm, and an overall leg length of 900 mm. They are in an overall extremely fine condition.
The uniform is accompanied by a cap constructed of grey whipcord wool. It features reinforced side walls, fully lined on the exterior with a dark grey wool cap band. The chinstrap rests upon a protruding black vulcanfibre visor, securely affixed to the cap with a row of machine stitching. A grey leather sweatband lines the lower edge of the interior, measuring 35 mm in width, while the interior also bears a grey cotton twill liner. A transparent plastic moisture guard is stitched onto the crown, and retains a silvered NVA deport mark.
