DIED IN HIS COUNTRY’S SERVICE 2 JUNE 1942, measures 66.9 mm (w) x 14.6 mm (h), weighs 6.21 grams, reverse marked BIRKS and STERLING, light contact, very fine. Contained in original dark purple case and original paper notices of the memorial bar and medals, and contained in the original

Footnote: Flight Sergeant Harry Crossland was killed in action on June 2, 1942. While on an operation to Essen, Germany, his Vickers Wellington Mk Ic was hit by flak and crashed at Moers, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. Crossland was a wireless airgunner on this mission, and was killed alongside Flight Sergeant Arthur William Dormand.
