A Canada General Service Medal, in silver, rim impressed Pte. A. T. Chapple Como R. Co. with original ribbon and FENIAN RAID 1866 clasp, very dark patina, light wear, very fine.

During the Fenian Raids of 1866–1871, the Commissariat Railway Company (COMO R. CO.) played a vital logistical role behind the front lines. Its members were responsible for operating and maintaining military railways, ensuring the rapid transport of troops, food, ammunition, and other essential supplies to areas threatened by Fenian incursions. By managing these supply lines, the company allowed frontline units to move efficiently and maintain readiness, even in remote or vulnerable locations. Although they did not usually engage in combat, their work was critical to the overall success of Canadian militia and British forces in responding to the raids. Their service was recognized with the Canada General Service Medal, often inscribed with the unit designation to highlight this essential support role.
