Prussia, Kingdom. A Rare Order of the Red Eagle, Civil Division, II Class Breast Star

(Roter Adler Orden Bruststern II. Klasse). Instituted 12 June 1792 by King Friedrich Wilhelm II. (1858-1918 issue). Constructed of silver with Gold and enamels, the obverse consisting of a four-pointed radiant starburst, overlaid by a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms situated within a Gold frame, bearing a central white enameled medallion defaced by a hand-painted Prussian eagle, in turn situated within a circular white enameled medallion bearing a gilt inscription of “SINCERE ET CONSTANTER” (“SINCERE AND STEADFAST”), joined together at the bottom by laurel branches, the reverse with four rivets securing the cross in position with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a rounded catch, unmarked, measuring 74.62 mm (w) x 74.23 mm (h), weighing 44.0 grams, demonstrating a period repair to the enamel of the three o’clock arm of the cross, in addition to flecking throughout the remaining enamel, a rare example featuring a "lila Adler" (lilac eagle) produced c. 1852 in near extremely fine condition.
