(Mil.), M.A. (Oxon.), Ph.D. (London), first published in October 1956, printed and bound in Great Britain by Gale and Polden Limited at their Wellington Press at Aldershot, Hants. It is signed by the previous owner and dated in black ink "A.A. Mackie / 23/3/57" (March 23, 1957) and stamped in black ink "KAFUE NATIONAL PARK / NAMWALA / N. RHODESIA" on the endpaper on the inside front cover, along with being stamped with the previous owner's name "A.A. MACKIE" and "KAFUE NATIONAL PARK / NAMWALA / N. RHODESIA" in black ink on page i. It begins with a Foreword by General George Giffard, G.C.B., D.S.O., followed by a Table of Contents, a List of 40 Illustrations, A List of 47 Maps and Sketches, a List of 11 Folded Maps, an Acknowledgements and an Introduction. The book contains 746 pages of text on a white paper stock, complemented by forty illustrations on a semi-coated paper stock, along with forty-seven pull-out maps on a thin white paper stock, all of which are printed in black ink, weighing 1.8 kilograms, measuring 155 mm (w) x 245 mm (h) x 50 mm (d). The cover has experienced age soiling and wear, with a tear present where the spine butts the back cover, moisture damage evident on the inside covers and the pages adjacent to them, foxing and red ink on the edges of the pages.
