Description

The Pattern 1796 Light Cavalry Saber was the standard regulation cavalry sabre for British light cavalry (dragoons, hussars, King’s German Legion) during the Napoleonic Wars. This particular example is completely untouched and as found.

Featuring its famous and strongly curved, single-edged blade, marked Hadley on spine, measuring 84 cm in length, retaining leather washer, with broad width near the tip for powerful cutting and designed primarily for slashing attacks from horseback. With inspection and proof mark crown over 8. Its handle is a simple stirrup-shaped guard, single knucklebow, leather-covered wooden grip wrapped, missing its twisted wire, with section missing near pommel. Scabbard is complete with light surface rust.
