In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Measuring 22.9 x 33.6 / 23.3 x 35.7 cm. Date of item: 1934. Condition: excellent. Two framed award certificates for firefighter Emil Zolland from 1934.
The first one carries a coat of arms, showing a swan with a crown around its neck. It is the coat of arms of the district of Stormarn, northern Germany. It lies just north-east of Hamburg. Zolland lived in Lohbrügge, which in 1937 became a part of Hamburg. Up until very recently Emil Zolland has been a former Kreisbrandmeister (district fire chief). It doesn’t say why he is not anymore. Zolland has served in the volunteer fire department for 40 years and is awarded the medal for loyal merits to the commonweal in silver by the district. It is signed in Wandsbek, Mar 6th, 1934 by the district administrator of Stormarn, Dr. Constantin Bock von Wülfingen (1885–1954). The second certificate is dated to Berlin, June 16th, 1934. Emil Zolland still lives in Lohbrügge, but is now identified as a district chimney sweep. He is being awarded the commemorative badge for merits in the firefighting department by the Prussian state ministry. The certificate holds a facsimile by the interior minister Wilhelm Frick (1877–1946) and shows his office’s seal. Frick was one of the 24 Nazi officials to be tried and sentenced to death at the Nuremberg Trials.
