(Nishan al-Iftikhar). Instituted in 1843. ( Order of Nichan-Iftikhar). 3rd Model, Type II with Cypher of Muhammad III as-Sadiq (1859-1882). Four-piece construction, in silver, with a green enamelled centrepiece bearing the cypher of Muhammad III as-Sadiq (1859-1882), ten dual-faceted star points, with three faceted rays between each star point, Tunisian marked on the reverse cartouche, measuring 60.5 mm (w) x 87.5 mm (h) inclusive of its bow suspension, intact native enamels, without sash, extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of Glory (AKA Order of Nichan-Iftikhar) was instituted in 1835 by Al-Mustafa ibn Mahmud, the Bey of Tunisia and awarded to members of the ruling house, senior public servants and to senior officers for acts of bravery. It was awarded in six grades: Grand Cordon, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, Knight I Class, and Knight II Class. The order was awarded until the constitutional role of the Bey was abolished in 1957.
