Syria, Republic. Order of Civil Merit, II Class, in Case

(Ordre du Mérite Civil). Instituted on April 10th, 1926. (Type II - 1953 onwards issue). Constructed of gilded silver, consisting of a five-pointed outward-pointing arrow cross with white enameled arrow arms, with green enamels in the spaces between the arrows and with gilded arabesques in the quadrants between the arrows, the reverse with writing in Arabic characters, unmarked, measures 81.2 mm (w) x 71.8 mm (w), worn on original ribbon. 

Contained in its original case of issue, a green padded leather exterior with Syrian eagle and text, the interior with a green velvet medal bed, with white silk lid featuring matching text from the lid, measures 110 mm (w) x 153 mm (l) x 50.3 mm (h), functional hinge, light scuffing, lid sits off center of base, very fine.
