Spain, Kingdom. An Order of Isabella the Catholic, Grand Cross Breast Star, c.1935

(Orden de Isabel la Catolica). Instituted March 24, 1815. (1931-38 Issue). A Second Republic Star, in silver gilt and enamels, a four armed red enamel star with ball finials and clusters of seven smooth rays in each quadrant, obverse medallion is beautifully hand painted insignia of the order, surrounded by a green enamelled wreath with a white enamel banner inscribed A LA LEALTAD ACRISOLADA POR ISABEL LA CATOLICA (To Pure Loyalty, For Isabel the Catholic) with a surmounting crowned monogram of Ferdinand VII on a blue enamelled field, the reverse presents a vertical pin assembly with dual stays, marked with a boar’s head denoting French manufacture post 1838 on the pin and unidentified maker mark, measures 75.8 mm (w) x 74.8 mm (h), weighs 59.9 grams, small enamel chips to obverse medallion, remains extremely fine.
