Description
Description
A brass belt buckle measuring 69.8 mm x 51.7 mm, of rectangular convex form, the obverse embossed with the Imperial double-headed eagle beneath the Imperial crown, bearing orb and sceptre and surrounded by regimental shields and military trophies, the reverse fitted with integral belt bar and catch, showing scattered dark tarnishing spots and areas of oxidation consistent with age and field wear, otherwise with well-defined details and honest service patina, in very fine condition.
Footnote: The Pattern 1907 belt buckle was issued to infantry units of the Imperial Russian Army prior to and during the First World War. The crowned double-headed eagle represents the state emblem of the Russian Empire under Nicholas II. Such buckles were worn by enlisted ranks and reflect the standardized equipment reforms introduced in the early 20th century before the collapse of the Imperial regime in 1917.
