Prussia, Kingdom. An Order of the Red Eagle, I Class Breast Star

(Roter Adler Orden - Bruststern I. Klasse). Instituted 12 June 1792 by King Friedrich Wilhelm II. (1854-1918 issue). Constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of an eight-pointed radiant starburst, overlaid by a central white enameled medallion bearing a hand-painted red Prussian imperial eagle, surrounded by a white enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “SINCERE ET CONSTANTER” (“SINCERE AND STEADFAST”), in turn situated within dual ribbed silver rings, the reverse with a barrel hinge and narrow tapering pinback meeting a rounded catch, unmarked, measuring 83.68 mm (w) x 83.91 mm (h), weighing 58.4 grams, demonstrating flecking to the enamels, with minor surface scratching to the enamels of the outer ring at approximately the twelve o’clock position, a striking and jeweller-quality example in near extremely fine condition.
