Germany, Luftwaffe. A Rare and Mint Regimental Standard Finial, Type II

 (Fahnenspitze für Truppenstandarten der Luftwaffe - II. Modell). Constructed of nickel-plated brass, consisting of an finely detailed Luftwaffe eagle in the round, with its wings outstretched, and with one set of talons raised while the other grips a mobile swastika, itself situated within a pair of oak leaves, all emanating from an elongated hollow base which is perforated with dual eyelets to accommodate a screw which locks the finial onto an accompanying regimental standard pole, unmarked, measuring 23.5 cm (w) x 19 cm (h), a striking and exceptionally rare example which retains virtually all of its original nickel plating, and among few known examples residing outside of museum collections, in near mint condition.
