Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Board Cap for Female Personnel, Kiel Depot Issue, c. 1941

(Kriegsmarine blaues Schiffchen für Nachrichtenhelferinnen). An extremely well-preserved Kriegsmarine board cap for female personnel, constructed of dark navy blue wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which gently slope downward toward the front, and which are trimmed along the edge with golden-yellow piping. Stitched onto the lower peak is an insignia consisting of a dark blue rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered golden-yellow Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 70 mm (w) x 30 mm (h). A multi-piece dark navy blue cotton/rayon blended cloth liner fully encompasses the interior. The right side bears a white ink stamp of “B.A.K.”, indicating issue by Bekleidungsamt Kiel (Kiel Clothing Depot), above a date of “9. 6. 41”. The cap measures approximately 28.5 cm (l) x 13 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Demonstrating no notable damage or wear, it remains in an extremely fine condition.
